  • So I'm in Alaska.  And a few pictures to show along the way.

Alaska 008 My seat on the plane.   Yes, I rode backwards the whole way.  It was quite fine tho....didn't know if I could handle that or not.

Alaska 016 At the airport in Whitehorse, YK for refuel.  Got to breathe that fresh, cool, real winter air! So nice.

And, of course, some mountains...flying into Alaska.

Alaska 035 Alaska 025 Alaska 031 Here's a glacier turned to river. cool.

It's chilly here, but not as much snow as in Whitehorse.  Can't wait to see more of the place.

  • Have you   EVER had 208 *NEW* messages in your inbox????

Aaaaaaaa!  NO!  It wasn't even spam.  No.  Nor was it all personal messages.  It was..... ...... ..... ..... FACEBOOK!!  WHATEVERRRR!  Do I care that some dear soul tagged me on so many photos.  (maybe someone needs to educate my on how to change my preferences on email notifications.) This dear soul spent A LOT - did you hear me say, WAY TOO MUCH TIME - on Facebook yesterday!!  All of 197 photos.  And my Yahoo! inbox didn't even get overloaded.   Good thing, cause I had close to 400 messages in there with all that.

    Iye-yie-yie.  (shakes head in amazement)

  • "Scientists have new proof parts of Canada date back to the creation of the Earth." Yahoo! headline news today.

Is this supposed to be a surprise?  When else do you think the land of Canada (or anywhere else) was formed?  Sometime after Europe but before Central America???  Whateverrrr.

A pinkish tract of bedrock on the eastern shore of Canada's Hudson Bay contains the oldest known rocks on Earth, formed 4.28 billion years ago, not long after the planet was formed, scientists said on Thursday. Uh-huh. cool.

That would put the creation of the rocks at roughly 300 million years after the planet was formed making them the oldest preserved piece of the Earth's early crust, researchers said Thursday.

The rocks may be remnants of Earth's primordial crust, which formed on the planet's surface as it cooled following the birth of the solar system, according to Jonathan O'Neil of McGill University in Montreal. Really? Never heard that one before!

The scientists did not find direct evidence of life in the rocks. The earliest life is thought to have been bacteria.

"We know that probably the right environment was there for life to be on the Earth -- so liquid water and all it takes to have life. Now was there life? This is a big question mark," O'Neil said  Somebody tell them that God created the earth with life.  Of course, there was life!

While some tiny mineral grains from western Australia date from 4.36 billion years ago, no complete rocks have been found older than these newly identified ones, the scientists said.

So, am I supposed to be proud of living in the country with the oldest land?  I'm thinking all these scientists are just attempting to make themselves a high-end job with something that is clearly explained in creation, as stated in Genesis.

Oh, the things that make the headlines.  The things we feel we need explanation for.  The things of God we wish we'd understand..... But what are the things in my life that I try to explain (or explain away) when it's something that God has perfectly purposefully planned to happen in my life? D'you know what I mean?

  • "Pink is beautiful."

'Twas the grandest afternoon I've had in a loooong time!  Partly cause it was sunny and warm and even felt like summer!  And the other 'partly' is cause I got to spend the afternoon with 4 other lovely ladies out paddling our canoes.  (Not up a tree either.  Couldn't find that one.)  And what a task it was too!  It wasn't just an easy paddle job, oh no!  We made our way over to another lake - Zealand Lake - which took us through places that any clastrophobic being would not have appreciated.  It was a windey, narrow, SHALLOW and STICKY (not the kind of sticky you get from honey, but from...sticks), still - except for the whine of the buzz of mosquitoes!!  But we made it!  E v e r y one of us!!   And thru it all, took in lots of sunshine too.  Yes, it was a day that relaxed the soul.  (I might update on the muscles tomorrow ).

Zealand Lake is a quiet lake.  There is no road access to it, so anyone wanting to get to it has to go thru what we did.  Not just anyone will do that (and we'll see if I do it again).  Oh.  Or they can whack thru the bush to get there if they really wanted to.  So we were on the lake alone.  So gorgeous.  Even found some rocks to skip, others to just throw, devoured snacks we took along and just chilled, or more, 'warmed'.  I did say we had sunshine.  It was a "One More Day of Summer" day.  And I am so thankful for it.

  • There are SO many STARS out there!  You should see 'em!  Who can ever think God is boring?

I just had my walk back home from BLC...and it was definately DARK.  But I had remembered to take my flashlight over with me this time.

Went blueberry picking today.  Lots of blueberry looking too.  It's the end of the season, and kind of patchy and small berries...but it's still better than one of the other summers I've picked!  And now I'm ready for a feastly dish of ice cream with fresh blueberries!  Except...I'm ready to lay my head down!

Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice day, and so I am planning on going canoeing with some other girls from here.  Going to make our way over to Zealand Lake....the guys are all going fishing tomorrow, so they miss out on the canoeing.  That's just the way it is.  Too bad for them.

And I am definately looking forward to a weekend.  I wish one would only have to put up with Learning a New Task for a short time, and then be done.  But it seems things don't work that way.  But, the schedule is different next week too, so there will be new new things to learn again.  Setting up a workshop, doing registration, collecting payments, and then figuring out how much I should be at camp, or when I can stay away and work in my office.  I will wait and see.

Thanks for dropping by.  I will get more on here later.
